A lot of people think that having a credit card is actually a liability. I would definitely disagree on that, because having one actually makes life easier. It could only become a liability if you label yourself an official borrower and not a good payer. Because, you would definitely get into bad debts. But, if you just take a look at all the advantages of having one, I don't think it could ever be considered a liability.
Credit cards give you a spending power, but just like all other powers, it comes with great responsibility. So, if you just use it right, you can use it to your advantage. For example, there's a certain merchandise that you are interested in purchasing but you don't have enough cash, you actually have two options. First, you can pay off the amount with your cash and charge the rest of the balance to your credit card, or save your cash for the rainy days and just charge the whole amount to your card first. You have one payment cycle which is equivalent to one month to actually pay that purchase. So, you already have the item and you can just pay it afterwards. If you pay it off later and you have no delayed payments, you only pay what you owe, most especially if the goods has been purchased on a 0% interest like what most merchants offer these days. You won't have to pay any finance charges.
And in case of emergencies, you can also use your credit card, if you run out of cash while eating out, or if you need to check in to a hotel and don't have enough money, you still can. You can purchase your plane tickets, actually almost anything. Just be sure you are capable of paying it all at the end of your billing cycle, otherwise, keep your credit card in your wallet.
See? All it takes is being responsible, and spending wisely.
